BARBARA WHITNEY CARR

Barbara Whitney Carr, who serves as Chairperson of the Governance Committee and Co-Chair of the Everglades Foundation’s Advisory Committee, has extensive leadership experience with non-profit organizations. She spent nearly 20 years at the Lincoln Park Zoological Society, serving as its executive director and president. She was president of the Chicago Botanic Garden for more than a decade. Mrs. Carr helped create the Academic Affairs Program at the Botanic Garden and teamed with Northwestern University, the Illinois Institute of Technology and the University of Illinois to develop several outstanding academic programs. The American Public Garden Association presented her with the 2007 Award of Merit, the organization’s highest honor. She serves on numerous boards including Lake Forest College, the Chicago Botanic Garden, and the Garden Conservancy. Mrs. Carr is a resident of Hobe Sound, Florida, and spends her summers in Douglas, Michigan.
