Resilience 365 Conference
The Everglades Foundation attended the Resilience 365 Conference at the University of Miami. The two-day conference was hosted by the University of Miami Climate Resilience Institute in partnership with Miami-Dade County. The event brought together communities and thought leaders to discuss technology and innovation, climate and resilience finance, and healthy communities. The conference was part of Miami Climate 365’s inaugural week of climate action, which included events across Miami to spark conversation and grow networks around resilience.

Panels Highlighting Everglades Restoration & Nature-Based Solutions
Chief Science Officer, Dr. Steve Davis kicked off the conference with the opening session and was joined by the Executive Director of the Global Commission on the Economics of Water, Henk Ovink. Moderated by Loren Parra, Chief Resilience Officer for Miami-Dade County, the panel was titled Everglades Restoration: The Nation’s Pioneer Water Engineering Project and discussed how Everglades restoration is educating on a global scale and informing projects across the world.

On the second day of the Resilience 365 Conference, Dr. Meenakshi Chabba, our Ecosystem and Resilience Scientist, joined a panel titled Nature Based Solutions and Coastal Infrastructure, where panelists spoke about nature-based solutions’ ability to benefit communities and bring positive results. The panel was moderated by Robert Verchick, Chair and Professor of Environmental Law at Loyola University. The panelists included Dr. Andrew Baker, Professor and Director of the Coral Reef Futures Lab at the University of Miami, Arnoud Molenaar, Global Director of Resilience & Partnerships at Square Floating City, and Anya Freeman, the Founder & CEO of Kind Designs.
