Palmetto Bay, Fla. – The Everglades Foundation today released the following statement, attributable to CEO Eric Eikenberg, regarding today’s meeting of the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD).
“Today, the Governing Board took a courageous step to avert a budget crisis and ensure critical public services remain fully funded for more than nine million Floridians.
“We applaud their leadership in recognizing that depleting reserve funds that are supposed to be set aside for emergency situations like hurricanes is not a sound, fiscally conservative policy.
“The Everglades Foundation looks forward to working with the Governing Board to support a sound 2016 budget that funds critical services and Everglades projects.”
