Eric Eikenberg, CEO of The Everglades Foundation, today released the following statement regarding the final fiscal year 2023-24 state budget that includes $624.6 million for Everglades restoration.
“Governor DeSantis once again demonstrated his commitment to the Everglades by recommending robust funding in his budget and the legislature has answered the call, clearly recognizing the inextricable link between the Everglades and our state’s tourism-driven economy.
We are grateful to the Florida Legislature for once again prioritizing funding for Everglades restoration in the state budget, allocating $624.6 million for Everglades restoration efforts for the fiscal year 2023-24.
As we continue to work together toward protecting and preserving America’s Everglades, the Foundation wants to thank our state’s leaders for their unyielding dedication to this national treasure."
