Palmetto Bay, Fla. – The Everglades Foundation today released the following statement, attributed to its CEO Eric Eikenberg, on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis recommending $805 million for Everglades restoration and calling to expedite construction of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir.

“What has been accomplished for Everglades restoration under Governor DeSantis’ leadership is extraordinary, and what he has outlined in his budget recommendation – $805 million for restoration – only continues the momentous strides that have been made during his time in office.

“The progress toward restoration has been unprecedented, and we look forward to working with the Florida Legislature to see this investment come to fruition.

“Additionally, the Foundation strongly supports the Governor’s call for an expedited construction of the EAA Reservoir, and we look forward to working with Florida’s congressional delegation to make that happen.

“We thank the Governor for his personal commitment to restoration and for continuing to invest in the protection and preservation of the Everglades.”
