Palmetto Bay, Fla. – Eric Eikenberg, CEO of The Everglades Foundation, today released the following statement regarding the budgets proposed by the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives, which both include full funding for Everglades restoration.
“The proposed budgets from both the Senate and House show that lawmakers understand how important continued funding is for Everglades restoration and for our state.
“Thank you to Senate President Wilton Simpson; Senate Appropriations Chair Kelli Stargel; Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Environment, and General Government Chair Ben Albritton; House Speaker Chris Sprowls; House Appropriations Chair Jay Trumbull; and House Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee Josie Tomkow for continuing to support Everglades restoration.
“This continued funding is significant in that both chambers came together in support of Everglades restoration and builds on the bold vision set by Governor DeSantis just over two years ago. We look forward to working with the Senate and House as the budget continues through the legislative process.”
