The beauty of Florida Bay and the appeal of clear, multi-hued waters that surround the Keys are obvious at first sight. When visitors look out across the mangrove islands that dot the Bay, they realize they are in special place. But the beauty of the Bay cannot endure…the Bay cannot support the wildlife and fish that call it home…the Bay can’t exist without its brother to the north, the Everglades. As an estuary, Florida Bay faces unique issues. Without continuing efforts to ensure the proper quality and quantity of water flow from the Everglades, the Bay will not flourish.
